Our Leadership
Serving as Stewards of Our Community
Vestry members are servant leaders elected to represent and support the gifts and ministries of St. Alban’s members.
Their responsibilities include defining the congregation’s mission, promoting it through actions and words, selecting the Rector, ensuring effective organization and planning, and establishing and approving the budget while managing financial resources. The Vestry acts as the legal representative of the parish regarding its corporate property.
The number of Vestry members and the length of their terms vary by parish. Vestry members are typically elected during the annual parish meeting, with the Rector serving as the presiding officer of the Vestry.
Two members of the Vestry are elected as Wardens. The Senior Warden supports the Rector and leads the parish in the Rector’s absence. The Junior Warden typically oversees the church property and buildings. A treasurer and either a secretary or a clerk may be appointed, and these officers may or may not be members of the Vestry.
The qualifications for Vestry membership may be found here.
