We build personal relationships with the leaders of the causes we support and the people they serve, taking the necessary time to understand their needs at a level that makes our support relevant and impactful.

Mid-Ohio Food Collective
The Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
We are proud to partner with the Mid-Ohio Food Collective to combat food insecurity in our region by raising funds through the St. Alban’s Bexley Turkey Trot, held each year on Thanksgiving Day.
FRIENDS OF THE HOMELESS
The Monthly Shelter Meal
We prepare and serve a hearty, homemade meal every month for the “Friends of the Homeless” emergency shelter. The shelter supports guests through transitional housing and recovery programs, providing them opportunities to reestablish themselves as members of the Columbus community.
With each plate served, we share not only food but also care and respect for the dignity of every human being. Join our team of volunteers to make a difference, one meal at a time.
COMMUNITY KITCHEN
Overcoming Barriers to Progress and a Place to Belong
The mission of the Community Kitchen is to feed and care for the hungry and to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors have their basic needs met. St. Alban’s joins this effort by providing free bus passes for individuals served by the Kitchen. We have learned that the connection between adequate transportation and social mobility is significant. Bus passes for work, school, self-care appointments, and childcare help people overcome barriers to poverty.
We further support Community Kitchen’s relationship-focused approach by offering The Listening Post ministry on-site on Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. You can find Ms. Ernestine Ujah in the dining hall, sitting at a table with a checkered tablecloth and some of her special treats.
The Listening Post serves as a safe space for relaxed conversations. We aim to ensure that individuals seeking nutritious food can also access equally important emotional and spiritual support. Ernestine also supports the guests who come for medical, dental, and podiatric care, as well as the staff and volunteers at the St. John Learning Center, where the Community Kitchen is located.
SHE HAS A NAME
Fresh Starts and New Dreams
Columbus, Ohio, has a high rate of human trafficking. St. Alban’s partners with She Has A Name (SHAN), a strong community organization dedicated to combating human trafficking through education and support.
With a vision to see all those impacted by trafficking “restored into society, welcomed in the workplace, and thriving in community,” SHAN awards annual Dream Scholarships to help survivors achieve their personal growth and development goals.
In 2025, St. Alban’s sponsored a scholarship to support the publication of a courageous memoir by a remarkable woman who details her journey beyond trauma to a renewed sense of self and a commitment to helping others heal.
LGBTQ+ Ministries
Advocacy partner with the Diocese of Southern Ohio
The Diocese of Southern Ohio and the Episcopal churches in the Columbus area maintain a strong presence at Pride celebrations in our communities. Alongside our sister congregations, members of St. Alban’s help organize festivals and booths, take part in parades, and support the annual Pride Mass through volunteering and presence.
