Inviting Our Children to Recognize and Respond to God
Godly Play happens during Children’s Chapel on the lower level of our Education Building, each Sunday at 9:15 a.m. In this sacred space, Bible stories are told gracefully and beautifully using hands-on figures made of natural and meticulously designed materials.
Afterward, children are invited to use the materials to retell the story or choose a response activity. Through stories and play, children discover meaning—this is their important work, and part of their spiritual growth.
We chose Godly Play because, in most religious education, children are told who God is. With Godly Play, children discover who God truly is. We believe children don’t need all the bells and whistles to connect with God’s love; they need simplicity and relationships.
Following Children’s Chapel, children and leaders transition to the church sanctuary to join the community for Holy Communion, sharing God’s grace as one family of faith.
